NextGEN Gallery is a very powerful plugin for WordPress that can manage the photo easily. It has many features and provides multiple language support. (Following bug has been fixed after 1.21)

There is a bug in this version when using other languages which will result in a notice's translation can not be shown. It a very small issue but if you are completist you can fix it in this way: Open this file [NextGEN plugin folder]/lib/core.php and find out line 419. Replace it with following code:

~~$result = sprintf( __( 'Note : Based on your server memory limit you should not upload larger images then <strong>%d x %d</strong> pixel', 'nggallery' ), $size['width'], $size['height']);~~

This notice appears in [Add Gallery / Images] -> [Upload a Zip-file] and similar pages. Well, in fact, there are two more bugs if you really want to fix... Open this file [NextGEN plugin folder]/admin/tinymce/window.php and find out line 29-30. Replace them with following code:

Mac OS X Mail application starts unexpectedly

The Mail app started itself unexpectedly just now (2009-02-08 at 1:15 am). I remember this is the second time in 24 hours. Generally, if any mail application starts, it means a email link has been clicked to trigger it, or something strange behind the scene is using it. I did not set any account in Mail. The application just notifies me to setup one when it starts. Good side is nothing to lease out. Bad side is I'm not sure what is going on. So I put a note here to remind when it happens again. It is said that Mac OS X is a very safe operating system. I hope it's not a virus but a mis-clicking on email link by myself.

iriver E10 icon for Mac OS

I just know how the icons in Mac OS work. 1st, The resolution is higher than Windows, as high as 512x512; 2nd, there are several different size of images in the icon file (format: .icns). That's why the icons look so nice, even when zooming. I just tried to make one by myself. I drew iriver E10 with Fireworks and converted it to icon for Mac OS use. 7hrs riding

Without a stop watch, I don't know how far I have riden. From 1:30pm to 9:00pm, at altitude 3648M. Compare to 100M swimming at alatitude 4300M on Aug 11th, riding a bike is a easier job. At least I could take rest on it.

Moving

It was July, 27th. I moved to the new appartment far away from downtown. Like the countryside. Costs 1.5 hrs even by metro. The good point is that the cost is much lower and it's quieter there. Could be a base for a while. Gonna say goodbye to this district.

The brain was blank in July... hmm... need some changes.

ThinkPad, ThinkPal

I got my first laptop. Brand new ThinkPad T61p which is now present by Lenovo. It's black, it's cool and I like it very much. I also bought some accessories to protect it such as a softbag, screen protect film, keyboard protect film, external portable laptop cooler. A bluetooth mouse was applied too, easy to carry and use. With buildin bluetooth interface, it can save me one extra USB port.

The system installation is lonnng night. And I learnt that SP3 and other XP patch are not so compatible with a lot of software, even the preloaded software. For I updated windows right after installed the system. But so many alert message box pop up when shuting down the system, the dwwin thing, so annoying. I am even thinking of install the system again... sigh, new computer, always likes this.

Anyway, I still enjoy it, the classic design and powerful performance. With some fine tune, ThinkPad will be my ThinkPal.
